3Rs in Kitengela hot glass industry.

Tunapanda Institute research more about 3Rs that's reduce, recycle and re-use, We started our trip walking through Kibera to Langata road and board a Matatu to Ongata Rongai in Kajiado County. We then board three Tuktuks passing Silole Sanctuary Kitengela at the edges of Nairobi national park. We reached to a foot bridge where we were told to cross keenly for those who afraid of the bridge or with high altitude level phobia. All successfully crossed the bridge. Then Warmly welcome by the security guard who ready to explained to us more about the Kitengela Hot glass industry by Anselm.
We encountered hard working staffs who all are busy in their work despite hot climate of the workshop.
We visited the workshop where we were shown different types of glasses for instance; Dalles, cobalt blue mold and tear/water drops all these glasses are 100% made in Kenya. Fruits bowl manufacturing process was our group demonstration, requirements;
Hot temperatures of 1100 degrees source from Gas and used engine oil burned 24 hrs non stop yearly.
After the fruits Bowl manufacturing process finished the glass takes 18 hrs to cool then ready to be used.
We are grateful for the visit to learn more about the industry of glasses which we usually thought are all imported to Kenya but now in a really sense Innovations in Tech-world Kenyans are contributing in their entrepreneurship work. Many thanks indeed to every one for a great day.
